“...Dogs and Cats Living Together, Mass Hysteria!”
If I leave my dresser drawers even slightly ajar, my cat, a tiny six pound ball of mischief will attempt to squeeze into the openings. I’ve seen her hook my underwear and bras with her claws and then dangle and drop them onto the floor to make room in the drawer for her to fit. So it would not come as a surprise to find out that the cat was in cahoots with the dog this morning.
I awoke at 3 am to find almost the entire contents of my purse spread out across the hall. My purse was in the exact same spot in which it had been left, still standing upright and about 2 feet off the ground inside a laundry basket. However, the contents of my makeup case, pill bottles, and change purse as well as my checkbook, calendars, and cell phone were strewn around and some, including all the pens, were chewed.
As I sat there on the floor, (did I mention this was at 3 a.m.?), counting pills and searching for my missing cash (hoping desperately that I would not have to wait for tomorrow to see if they would emerge...... think about it) , the dog was acting very happy and running through the mess - almost like saying "Nyah, nyah" while the cat, observing everything from her perch on the piano, was as innocent a bystander as one could find.
I know the dog had been mad at me because I had banished her from my room last night for pooping on my floor. When I fussed at her, she hid under the bed and I had to trick her into coming out so that I could put her into the hall to sleep for punishment.
And on occasion, she has been known to dig into my purse, when I’ve left it in a low place (she’s a very short dog - stubby little legs actually) but until this morning, she’d only taken and eaten my flavored lip glosses. (I can’t blame her - they do taste yummy.) But this was most amazing as the purse itself appeared untouched.
The dog, I know, had her reasons, but the cat? I’m sure she had her hand/paw in it somehow.
