They may be rude but at least they are not fat!
An article in the Times-Picayune today reflects on the changing American family where researchers examine the dynamics of two-working-parent homes. For many families, having both parents earning a paycheck is a necessity, however it causes the individual family members to spend more time apart. Time together is usually spent travelling between extracurricular lessons, sports, shopping and such. The researchers find that companionable skills such as courtesy and conversation as well as playtime and intimacy suffer as a result.
As I read the article it became apparent that for many families, in the rush to do more (i.e. be successful) the important qualities of life come through. As one father says in the article Our so-called lives, "The kids are doing well. They are getting good grades. They're not obese."
Yep. They have their priorities straight alright.
