Your deliveries may be a little delayed.
Last week, on Ash Wednesday - the day after Mardi Gras for you po' folks who don't get to really celebrate - I had some errands to run. One such errand took me past a bar on the bayou which is a recognizable landmark on my travels as at night, it is lit up with Xmas lights.
Still.
And during the day, you can see a 'gator chasing Santa's sleigh atop the little levee.
Still.
And this bar also happens to be a location where one of the party buses are parked. You really can't miss one of those. Even if you were blind.
But not on that Wednesday. That day was different as something was definitely amis.
As I approached the location, I could see that Santa was not in his usual position in his sleigh:
However, I did notice this in the bayou:
NOOOOOOOOooooooo!
That couldn't possibly be what I think it is!
I actually had to pull over and get out of my car. I couldn't believe my eyes.
It was. :(
Dear old Saint Nick. Floating face down in the bayou.
Looks like he partied a little too hardy on Fat Tuesday.
Someone apparently fished him out recently as he's no longer floating. But he's not yet returned to his position on his sleigh. I hope he's ok.
But if you don't see him later on this year. You'll know why.
And you heard it here first.
Still.
